Laboratory Services
The Woodland Medical Center Imaging Department offers a full range of diagnostic procedures. Our staff of registered technologists is dedicated to providing you with superior imaging studies and “caring beyond your expectations.” Our technologists are specialized in all areas of imaging including mammography, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, computed tomography, angiography, and general diagnostic services.
Advanced Technology

• Diagnostic (DX)
• Mammography- FDA and MQSA certified, provided in our special Women’s Imaging Center
• Ultrasound (US)
• Vascular and Echocardiography
• Nuclear Medicine
• Computed Tomography (CT) - Spiral, Multi-slice Imaging available featuring additional applications such as 3D reconstruction.
• Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)- Open magnet available for claustrophobic patients. 1.5 Tesla unit available for specialized MRA studies.
• Angiography - Digital subtraction, stenting, and many other specialized interventions available.
Radiologists
American College of Radiology certified radiologists provide coverage for the imaging department. Emergency and after-hour coverage is available 24-hours-a-day, including weekends and holidays.
Scheduling
Your exams may be scheduled through Central Scheduling at (256) 736-1400. When calling to schedule an exam, please have the following information available:
• Patient Name
• Diagnosis/Symptoms
• Birth date
• Social Security Number
• Exam/procedure requested by the ordering physician
• Home telephone number - for certain exams we will call the patient one day before the scheduled exam time as a courtesy reminder
• Type of insurance- please have all of the insurance information available from any and all carriers that the patient may utilize
• Employment information
• Allergies/Diabetic medications
• Weight
The exam, as well as any preparations for the exam, will be explained to you when you call. Any questions or concerns can be addressed by the scheduling office, or you may call Imaging Services directly at (256) 736-1070.
Full Service Laboratory
Woodland Medical Center features a full service laboratory with blood bank. The lab also contracts with area reference laboratories to provide a wide-range of pathology and esoteric laboratory testing.
24-hour/ 7-day coverage
The laboratory is staffed 24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week, to provide you with around the clock care whether you are an inpatient or an outpatient.
COLA AND JCAHO Accredited
COLA is an accrediting agency for clinical laboratories. We are one of a limited number of area hospitals to hold this accreditation. Being COLA and JCAHO accredited ensures that the highest standards of quality and safety are maintained and assures that the results we produce are accurate. Woodland Medical Center is also licensed by the Alabama State Board of Health as a certified reference laboratory to meet the needs of patients and physicians outside of the local community.

Laboratory Testing
The clinical laboratory offers extensive on-site testing in the areas of clinical chemistry, hematology, serology, and microbiology. A full line of blood bank services ensures that all of our patients' blood needs are met.
Auto-Fax Capability
The laboratory's advanced computer system allows automatic transmission of laboratory test results to your physician immediately upon completion of testing.
Drug Screen Capability
WMC offers Chain of Custody and Department of Transportation (DOT) drug screen collection services. Drug screen specimens are collected by trained staff members and referred to SAMSA approved laboratories for testing.
